Rugged UMPC from Panasonic based on the new processor Atom from Intel

At CeBIT 2008, which is taking place now in Hannover, Panasonic company has presented its new UMPC. And the modelĀ is implemented in the rugged casing and will be issued under its own trademark TOUGHBOOK, which represented portable computer company with increased protection against external influences.

Another attraction of Panasonic UMPC is that its “heart” is a new processor Intel Atom with miniature size and low power.
Detailed specifications of this model has not been provided, but the company told some parameters: it is what has been stated above (security processor and Intel Atom), as well as:
* Compatibility with the operating system Windows Vista
* Compact size and low weight (within 1 kg.)
* The possibility of attachment (and wearing) to a hand
* Hot replacement batteries
* The possibility of a complete set of modules with support for wireless technologies, embedded cameras, bar-code scanners, etc.

Release of Panasonic UMPC TOUGHBOOK was scheduled for the autumn of this year in Japan, and later to begin and the rest of the corporate market.
